Live Content Policy

This policy governs all content posted through Live mode on richmaps. Live mode allows registered users to share real-time updates about conditions, events, and incidents at a specific location. Because live posts are time-sensitive and geographically indexed, they carry particular responsibility for accuracy and community impact.

1. Scope and Purpose

Live mode exists to give people on the ground a way to share useful, timely, and location-specific information with others nearby. It is not a general-purpose social feed, a news wire, or a platform for personal disputes. Every post must relate to a real, observable condition or event at or near the stated location.

2. Permitted Categories

Posts must fall into one of the following categories and must accurately reflect the selected category:

• Transport Delay — road closures, public transport disruptions, congestion, diversions.
• Weather — significant local weather conditions such as flooding, ice, fog, or storms.
• Crowd — unusual crowd levels at venues, stations, markets, or public spaces.
• Road Incident — accidents, breakdowns, roadworks, or hazards affecting road users.
• Local Event — public events such as markets, protests, festivals, or sports fixtures that affect the area.
• General — any other noteworthy local condition not covered above.

3. Accuracy and Honesty

Posts must describe conditions that are real and currently observable. You must not:

• Post fabricated, speculative, or unverified information presented as fact.
• Exaggerate the severity or scale of an incident.
• Post about past events as though they are ongoing.
• Submit duplicate updates for the same ongoing condition within the same hour.

4. Location Accuracy

Posts are pinned to a geographic coordinate. The stated location must correspond to where the condition is actually occurring. Deliberately mislocating a post — for example, placing a traffic incident in a residential street to harass residents — violates this policy.

5. Hard Prohibitions

• No personal information about private individuals, including names, contact details, vehicle registration plates, or descriptions that could identify a person.
• No harassment, threats, defamation, or targeted negative commentary about individuals or businesses.
• No content that is obscene, sexually explicit, or gratuitously violent.
• No hate speech or content that discriminates on the basis of race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or nationality.
• No content designed to incite panic, civil unrest, or unsafe behavior.
• No advertising, spam, or promotional content of any kind.
• No content that impersonates emergency services, government agencies, or official bodies.
• No coordinated or automated posting.

6. Time-Limited Nature of Posts

Live posts expire automatically based on their category. Transport delays, crowd conditions, and road incidents expire after 1 hour; weather conditions, local events, and general updates expire after 2 hours. The expiry duration is set automatically and cannot be changed by the poster. Posts that remain live after the underlying condition has ended may be flagged and suppressed.

7. Images

Images attached to live posts must depict the reported condition and must have been captured at or near the stated location. Images must not contain identifiable individuals without their consent, except incidentally in crowd or public-space contexts where individuals are not the subject of the image.

8. Rate Limits

Users are limited to three live posts per rolling hour. This limit exists to prevent spam and to ensure the feed remains useful and trustworthy. Attempting to circumvent rate limits — for example by using multiple accounts — violates the Terms of Use.

9. Moderation and Enforcement

All live posts are automatically screened for prohibited content at submission. richmaps and its administrators may additionally review, suppress, or remove any post at any time. Repeated violations may result in posting privileges being suspended or your account being terminated.

Users can flag posts that appear to violate this policy. Flagged posts with sufficient reports are automatically suppressed pending review.

10. Relationship to Other Policies

This policy supplements the Community Guidelines and the Terms of Use. In the event of conflict, the stricter standard applies.
