It Takes Two Minutes to Put Your Favourite Place on the Map
Adding a point of interest on richmaps is faster than you think. Here's the full process — photo, form, submit — and why it's worth doing.
Summary: Snap a photo, let the AI fill in the form, hit submit. Your local knowledge is on the map in minutes and earning from every view.
Think of a place you know that deserves more attention. A café that opens early. A trail with a view nobody talks about. A community noticeboard that's actually useful. A local business that's been there for decades.
Now put it on the map. It takes about two minutes.
Step 1 — Pick Your Mode
richmaps organises the world into ten content modes: Tourism, Events, News, Transport, Community, Property, Business, Amenities, Entertainment, and Features.
Pick the one that fits your place. A restaurant goes under Business. A walking route goes under Tourism or Features. A local event goes under Events. Each mode has its own set of fields — only the ones relevant to that category, nothing more.
Step 2 — Take a Photo
This is where richmaps saves you most of the effort. Point your camera at the place and take a shot.
Our AI analyses the photo and pre-fills the submission form — name, category, address, opening hours, and more — pulling what it can directly from the image. You review the result, fix anything that's off, and add any details the photo couldn't capture.
No photo? You can still fill in the form manually. But most of the time, one image does most of the work.
Step 3 — Drop a Pin
Tap the map to place your POI exactly where it belongs. The location picker locks to the spot you choose — no fuzzy address matching, no approximations. Street-level accuracy, every time.
Prefer a Computer?
No problem. Head out with your phone and take photos as you go — no app needed, just your camera roll. When you get back home, open richmaps on your laptop or desktop, right-click anywhere on the map to drop a pin at the exact location, upload the photos from your walk, and the same AI extraction kicks in. Same process, same result. It's that easy.
Step 4 — Submit
Hit submit. That's it.
Your POI goes into the review queue. A local admin checks it against the community guidelines — usually within 24 hours — and approves it. Once it's live, it appears on the map for every subscriber in that area.
And from that moment, every time someone views your listing, you earn!
What Makes a Good POI?
The best submissions share a few things in common:
- A clear photo — well-lit, taken straight-on, showing the place rather than the crowd
- Accurate location — pin dropped at the entrance, not the car park
- Useful detail — opening hours, a short description, any relevant links
- Original content — your own words, not copied from another site
You don't need to be a writer. A couple of honest sentences about what makes the place worth knowing is enough.
It Gets Easier
The first POI takes the longest because you're learning the flow. By the third or fourth, it's a habit. Most regular contributors settle into a rhythm: notice something worth sharing, open the app, snap and submit.
You can track everything you've added — and see the views accumulating — in the My Submissions panel. Your earnings dashboard updates daily.
One Place at a Time
The map improves one submission at a time. Every POI you add is a piece of local knowledge that wouldn't be there without you.
Start with one place you know well. See how it lands. Then add another.
